Nice Cream

The most popular 'Western-style' lunch place at time of writing. Large choice of food, from sweet en salty pancakes to burgers, sandwiches, soups and salads. Prices are a bit exaggerated (up to 14$ for a sandwich) but food is good and there’s a nice ambiance. If you’ve got a sweet tooth, you’ll be happy to learn that Nice Cream has a separate ice cream shop just left of the restaurant with the best Italian ice cream in Kinshasa.

Pattiserie Nouvelle

Standard breakfast and lunch place in the center of the hustle and bustle of the city where you can find Continental and English breakfast, sandwiches, soups, salads and all kinds of pastry. There’s an indoor diner and a small terrace. Their cakes are the best in Kinshasa

Al’Dar

Lebanese restaurant that has a fast-food feeling to it. It is greatly appreciated by the Lebanese and Congolese population and can therefore get very busy at lunch time. Food is excellent, if Lebanese food is your cup of tea and prices are very reasonable.

L'Orangerie

It's one of the only places in Kinshasa where you can have lunch in less than an hour. Every day choice between 4 different meals which come with one glass of a local drink for $10. Around lunch time you might have a problem to find a place.

Dinner restaurants

Le Mandarin - Better than in China!

Big restaurant that serves delicious Chinese food. Especially the buffet on wednesday night is worth the detour.

Limoncello - Italian Class

Open since June 2011, the restaurant Limoncello has quickly become the hot spot for expats and wealthier Congolese. It’s a large place with an inside and outside bar, big terrace and garden. Food is good and prices are reasonable but it is the modern décor and European atmosphere that distinguishes it from all other restaurants and draws out the masses. The downside of its popularity is that it can take quite some time to receive your meal (especially on Fridays and Saturdays), so if you’re in a hurry, come early or go elsewhere.

Spice - Indian Delight

Relatively new Indian restaurant that serves excellent Indian food. Meals can be a bit too spicy though, so do not forget to ask them to tone down the pili-pili if that is not your cup of tea.

Chez maman Colonel - Delicious grilled chicken

If you come to Kinshasa, you'll have to eat at maman Colonel at least once. Run by he widow of a Colonnel in the Congolese army, maman Colonnel serves absolutely delicious grilled fish and grilled chicken. Acompany your meal with the 'makemba' (bananas) or other delicious congolese side dishes. If you want to eat calmly, go to the place in ma Campagne, if you'd like to really 'go local' drive your way through throngs of people to arrive at maman Colonnel in Bandal

Le Cercle Gourmand

Relatively expensive place located on the golf course of Kinshasa. On the menu you will find more refined European food. Most people eat at the terrace outside because of the cosy atmosphere. Attention, prices inside are significantly higher than the terrace prices!

Caf Cons - Luxury dining

Since Caf Cons is the only restaurant that boasts a 'haute cuisine' in Kinshasa and is therefore very expensive, people usually go here for special occassions. The food is excellent though and there are a few nice attentions along the evening ( a rose for the ladies etc.)
